The Silver Monster

from The Living Lucid by LLAAPPSSEE

about

Every weekend I returned to the shores and stood in that exact place. I'd stare up at the shape of the moon. It was almost as I had never moved in between that first night and the new nights. The smell of salty air danced in the swell of my nostrils and I'd dig my toes into cooled sand as if perching on an ancient tree limb.

Again, as before, It would arise from the sea: The Silver Monster. Here, against a frail moon its oblong limbs swayed. From its slim fingers it rained. Its eyes pulsed with a fatigued red glow and its stance held a disposition that translated just that. It was like a ponderous asteroid with all the time in the universe as it lumbered towards the shore. I gasped, and with it, took in cool air. Such a breath would tingle my lungs and I would hope for death in order to make sure this was real. Now, that wasn't our first occasion yet, I couldn't move. I was not stricken with fear. It was as if the sight stopped time. As if it stopped all my biological processes. It's not something you could imagine getting use to. I'm not sure if I ever would want to.

It sank its burly soles into the wet sand and looked down to me. It did not say a word. I couldn't even be sure it was blinking. It stared for a long time, as if trying to translate messages to me. I felt a pull at my heart. Like someone or something was digging into my chest and tugging gently at my aorta. I signaled with an enchanted smile and the giant reached down for me. With ease, its limber fingers dug into the sand and picked me up. I rattled about, bouncing from finger to finger, trying to keep balance as it pulled me upwards in a rush of cool midnight air. Hourglass sand poured from his palm while I clutched its ring finger. Off we went away from the shores and towards the forests. I would hold steady on ridges of waterlogged flesh as we raced over through tree's as if they were nothing but grass. As our journey wore on, I loosened my grip and, with the stance of a wayward sea explorer, I stood tall. The wayward winds cut through my hair and whipped my clothing. Looking past the webbing of the giants fingers I could see I was high above the canopy, above the buildings, the clouds, above everything.

I didn't know how far we would go. I didn't care if we had stopped. I was sure this monster had to return to the sea at some time. I craned my neck and looked back to it, to see its face. It looked as if it were wearing a mask of some sort. A mask of hardened sand. Etched upon the visage and below his dull eyes there was grand smile. I held fast, standing strong, smiling back.

lyrics

Person I knew..

We once pulsed together.
A total collapse caught us.
your end. My End. Who's really to say?
Person I Knew..
Maybe I'll meet you again.
Not now. Not in some odd months.
Or even some weird years.
could be a decade..
who's to say?
I've got my bet on another life time.
So you wont have to count the seconds..
Person I knew; another life time.
Yeah, That sounds about right..
